RAINS continues to strengthen its role within the European water innovation landscape through its participation in Water Projects Europe, an initiative led by Water Europe that brings together EU-funded projects working on water management, circularity, and sustainability.
The recent event held on 27 and 28 October 2025 in Copenhagen focused on “Harnessing digital and resource recovery innovation for sustainable farming” and provided a valuable platform for exchange among leading Horizon Europe projects. The event gathered initiatives addressing key challenges such as water scarcity, efficient resource use, and climate resilience in agriculture.
Related Projects
RAINS engaged alongside projects including FARMWISE, UNIVERSWATER, and GEORGIA, which share strong complementarities in areas such as sustainable irrigation, digital decision-support tools, and innovative water management solutions.
A notable highlight is the GEORGIA project, which is funded under the same Horizon Europe call as RAINS, making it a natural sister initiative. This alignment creates important opportunities for collaboration, particularly in advancing solutions for drought-resilient irrigation, alternative water sources, and smart farming technologies.
Collaboration
Participation in Water Projects Europe supports RAINS in strengthening cooperation with the wider EU project community, enabling the exchange of knowledge, identification of best practices, and alignment of approaches. These interactions are essential to enhance the uptake and replication of innovative solutions, ensuring that project results reach farmers, advisors, and policymakers.
By actively contributing to this collaborative platform, RAINS reinforces its commitment to supporting water-smart agriculture and advancing the transition towards more resilient, efficient, and sustainable farming systems across Europe.
